While it may look gloomy outside today, spring is here! With that, spring cleaning and yard clean-up follow, which includes open burning.

So, a reminder: the Utah Department of Air Quality has some open burning guidelines and regulations.

~ Obtain a burn permit.

~ Check the Airshed Index (500+, airshed 5). This should be done each day you plan on burning, and you should not burn if it is below the 500, even if you have already obtained a burn permit.

~ Burning should be attended by a responsible adult (18+) at all times.

~ Have a method of extinguishment readily available.

~ Keep fire 50+ feet away from any structure.

~ Burn in small piles.

~ NO waste materials.

~ NO accelerants.

~ Fire must be out before dark!
