
District Takes Delivery of New Fire Engine
Monday, March 8th 2010The District’s new engine has arrived and is on the job. The new 2009 Pierce Contender has been assigned to station 61 in Farr West and covers a primary response area consisting of Farr West, Marriott-Slaterville, and unincorporated areas of northwestern Weber County.
The District’s Apparatus and Equipment Committee developed the specifications for the engine and after a competitive bid process Pierce Manufacturing Inc. was awarded the bid for a total price of $358,358 on delivery. It was manufactured at Pierce’s Bradenton, Florida facility and was delivered to Weber Fire District in December of 2009.
The engine has a pumping capacity of 1,500 GPM and has a 750 gallon water tank. It is also equipped with a 6,000 watt hydraulic generator unit, 900 watt flood lights, and a power cord reel. The hose bed has a carrying capacity of 1,000 feet of 5” large diameter hose, 800 feet of 3” inch hose, and 250 feet of 2 ½ inch hose.
